Nightmare

Sleep comes creeping slowly, silently smothering with a cloak of darkness. Outside Nightmares wait, their beady eyes watching. Fingers brittle tap across the window pane like twigs from a tree. They wait, they watch, then slowly they approach. They steal into your mind, oozing through your dreams , taking over your soul.
Softly they begin their song, Their haunting curse of pictures.People now lost to you, The faceless ones that come for you, whispered threats that surround you. There is no where to run. They torment you, hurt you, eat away at your mind as it struggles to find peace.
There is no peace from these nightmares that come for you. The endless falling through space. You try to hold on but there is nothing but air. They float about you prodding you, poking you, tearing and tormenting you until you can take no more.
You need to wake but you can't. Your mouth moves, but no words come out. You try to move but something holds you down, your limbs are like lead. You can feel your heart beating faster and faster. Desperation hits you like a wave crashing on the rocks of your consciousnesses, but still the nightmares dance and sing and taunt, their twig like fingers poking and stabbing at your soul. Silently you cry out as once again you fall into nothing. And they watch your flailing limbs as you disappear into the nightmare of your own making.

Guilded cage

As the winds howl and the sea's crash, she stands, hands clasped around the bars of her cage. Below her waves crash upon the rocks, while above her a lone bird cries out.Lifting her face to the skies she to cries out, but her cries are unheard as the wind steals them from her. Hopeless she sinks to her knees, her fingers unclench from the bars and fall slowly to her sides. She is lost, doomed to watch the world around her from the prison bars of her guilded cage. She bows her head and weeps, but the wind steals the tears from her cheeks as they fall.
As the world around her evolves she is cursed to stay the same. To stand and watch the tides from her cage. There is no one to rescue her from this rock she now calls home. She will watch the seasons, mourn their passing, cry as they leave. She will feel the pain of each broken heart, hear each cry of despair. From her guilded cage she see's the world.
Her name is solitude.

dream state

Touch the cheek of the faceless man as strobe lights flash and music plays. Put the gun to his temple and pull the trigger. Step back and watch him fall sideways to the ground among the revelers, the party goer's , the thrill seekers. Lights flash, voices scream, blood pools and there you stand motionless among the chaos.
Drop the gun, turn from death and leave this place. Move through the crowd half lit by strobe lights. Catch glimpses of the terror, the frightened eyes, the silent screams as you move past them untouchable.
Feel the hands as they touch you claw like, tearing at the coat that shrouds you. Push through the crowd as the coat falls to the floor, eyes focused.
See the mirror before you, glass glinting and go to it. Smash the glass, turning away from the shards as they scatter around you and climb inside. Leave behind the frightened hoards, the lights , the wall of sound that covered you. Escape into the darkness, your new shroud.
Find another place, another time, a different dimension.
