Nightmare

Sleep comes creeping slowly, silently smothering with a cloak of darkness. Outside Nightmares wait, their beady eyes watching. Fingers brittle tap across the window pane like twigs from a tree. They wait, they watch, then slowly they approach. They steal into your mind, oozing through your dreams , taking over your soul.
Softly they begin their song, Their haunting curse of pictures.People now lost to you, The faceless ones that come for you, whispered threats that surround you. There is no where to run. They torment you, hurt you, eat away at your mind as it struggles to find peace.
There is no peace from these nightmares that come for you. The endless falling through space. You try to hold on but there is nothing but air. They float about you prodding you, poking you, tearing and tormenting you until you can take no more.
You need to wake but you can't. Your mouth moves, but no words come out. You try to move but something holds you down, your limbs are like lead. You can feel your heart beating faster and faster. Desperation hits you like a wave crashing on the rocks of your consciousnesses, but still the nightmares dance and sing and taunt, their twig like fingers poking and stabbing at your soul. Silently you cry out as once again you fall into nothing. And they watch your flailing limbs as you disappear into the nightmare of your own making.
